palmer house is right in teh middle of the two hotspots that I like to hit up, Rush street, and lincoln park. its a little closer to rush, but only like a 10 minute cabride depending on traffic.
last time I stayed, I got a good deal at the hyatt on lower wacker, lincoln park is a little less "clubby" than rush, but I always have a better time on rush st. So I suggest finding a hotel near rush.
