Barroom faux pas?
Some of you might tease me about this, due to my nickname here, but WTF...
Was drinking in my local bar tonight, when this gentleman started a conversation. He asked me about my youth, etc, and damned if he didn't grow up in the same area as me! Then he offers to buy me a shot.
At this point, I'm wondering as to his motives. I wasn't looking to get picked up, and I didn't want to be a "prick tease," drinking this guy's booze then failing to put out.
So, shortly after he ordered the shots, I said something to the effect of: "I'm basically the world's most non-judgemntal guy, but if you have an ulterior motive, you're probably wasting your time."
Well, he gets really offended, and now I feel like a prick for insulting someone just trying to be a nice guy. How OUGHT have I handled this?
