As a rule of thumb, yes this is good. But like so many situations in poker, the only absolutely correct answer to "should i fold my quads in case he has overquads here?" is "it depends".

While the situations when it's correct to do so are rare, having the discipline to lay down quads when "you know you're beat" is what separates the good players from the truly great, and will probably greatly increase your win rate.
