Another option is table selection. You can avoid playing at the same table unless he is actively looking for you. Also make sure if you do sit with them that you have position on him, and if he ever sits to your left try to move.

Running away from him is lame, and giving up EV.

There are some players that are just -EV to play, and this could be one of them. Why pick a tough, high variance fight when there are plenty of easier ones out there.
