Casino gambling has only recently been approved in Mexico. There has long been sports betting at Caliente in Tijuana, and I know of plans for casinos in Nuevo Laredo on the Texas border. In Tijuana you can bet on all US and European sports, horse and greyhound races, and jai alai.
I am aware that some preliminary negotiations for a casino in Cuernavaca took place about a year ago, but I don't know what became of it. Given that the Mexican Supreme Court recently upheld the casino enabling legislation, it is probable that a push for Las Vegas style gaming in tourist areas is forthcoming. There is vocal support and opposition on the issues, and Mexico's Congress has come to blows over some issues recently (yes, literally come to blows - search youtube). Really, the timing of when there will be large scale casinos in Mexico a total unknown.
That said, you can probably find a home game or a game held in a bar with a little searching on your part. Try craigslist.
