One thing that I have heard of people trying is to open up the laptop and rinse out its entire insides with distilled water. Should not ruin any components as long as it is allowed to completely dry.

turn it off, remove battery, etc, like jw said, let it dry overnight, but use rubbing alchohol and a cotton swab to clean everything up, then let dry again.
