Smaller? Relative to blind size perhaps. If you multiply the blind size by a factor of 7 or 8, to be somewhat equal to limit, the swings are probably very close to the same.
Of course, for anyone who sizes the bankroll properly the swings are exactly the same. If they aren't then you are not comparing the proper levels of the two games. 5/10 NL and 40/80 limit should be close to the same.
