The best thing that could happen to the United States economy is if the WTO or any other country did anything to force us to tighten our trade borders. Foreign countries benefit far more than the United States from free, uninhibited, open trade with us. All of the economic investment and opportunity you read about in China is because we opened up our trade barriers. We exported millions of jobs and gutted our middle class in order to benefit countries like China and we got NOTHING in return. No one is going to put economic pressure on the United States because they benefit so greatly from open trade with us. If Antigua tried something like that they would feel the wrath of every major industrialized country who is profiting from the destruction of the middle class in the United States.
