You might like The Longest Journey, which was an adventure game in that mold that came out a few years ago. There's a sequel, Dreamfall, that I haven't gotten around to playing yet (mostly because I think my system is too outdated.) TLJ has some serious flaws - most notably, I'd say the puzzle density is slanted way too highly towards the beginning of the game, then gets markedly easier - but a fun story and solid voice acting, for the most part.

If you like turn-based, Master of Orion type stuff, I've been finding Galactic Civilizations 2 to be a pretty good time, and the expansion that just came out is supposed to add some nice depth.
