First hand. I bet, and then bet again on the river, if I wasn't raised.

Second hand, I posted a very similar hand a little while ago. The bet on the turn is mandatory if the pot was bigger. If your opponent doesn't have a heart, (heartless bastard) and you let him have a free card here, you are giving him a freeroll to a chop. If he does have a heart, you still have ten outs on the river. But you just can't let him get that chop for free. In this case, the pot is small, and you are only risking a bet and a half, so checking and calling the river is ok.
