The stop and go plan would be better if the big stack was raising from the button or cut off. It would also be better if you were not using it against someone with so many chips. That is because someone with 36,000 chips may be more willing to gamble and call you on the flop with a whiffed AK.

I do not hate the play as much as the previous responders. If you think that Ax/KJ/etc are in the big stack's raising range then this might be a good spot for a stop and go. The villain will be getting ~2:1 odds to call you if you shove preflop and that makes his calling range pretty much whatever he opened with. I like the SNG better than a pf shove in this spot.
