Default Re: Hey, I found it!

I heard Emmanuel Stewart (Hearn's trainer) interviewed saying that the masseuse massaged Hearn's legs too much before the fight causing the muscles to lose tension or something and they decided to abandon their go the distance fight plan and instead go for broke in the first few rounds.

I heard Tommy Hearns in an interview say he had overtrained for the fight and he knew his legs weren't going to make it so he decided his only option left was to go for broke early.

Marvin was surprised by they attack and stunned early, but adjusted and fought back to eventually knock out Hearns.

My dad said at the time he say the fight simulcast, everyone in the theatre was mumbling how they thought Tommy was on a boatload of coke because of the look in his eyes, his erratic movements, and his go for broke strategy.

Cocaine is a helluva drug.

p.s. Here are some of my lesser known picks if you like action: Foreman vs. Lyle, 1976. Shavers vs Lyle, Norton vs Quarry + all the well known stuff (Ali vs Frazier, etc.)
