The way the hand played out Hero ended up HU and maybe his equity isn't bad against villain's range. I don't know what this villain's raising standards are. But I think a bigger fly in the ointment is that in many situations we will not have a villain who is helping us to get it HU by raising; instead, we may get called in more than once place (one player with a nut low draw and another holding 6xxx), at which point our equity looks pretty bad. So just because the failure to thin the field preflop was corrected postflop in this particular case doesn't mean that this is generally a good way to play this hand.
