I did that walk one time.
It's not very realistic to do it regularly imo.
It was so annoying I didn't even do it again going back. Just got a cab.

Quite the hike just to get to Bellagio or any other nearby strip location. And you have to walk across the bridge over the damn interstate so you come away smelling like exhaust.


But if you don't want to rent a car, you can take the shuttle from the Rio (next door to Gold Coast) to Harrah's on the strip. And that would have to be quicker than trying to take the bus from downtown to the strip I would think.


I still very much recommend getting the cheapest rental you can though.

Vegas on a budget is very do-able I think.
But I just don't believe you should try to trim too much for really inferior location.

Much better to be somewhat nearby and either be able to walk right out your door to the strip or have a relatively quick cab/shuttle/car ride away. Saves lot of time.
And also could save a bit of money too.
