Default Re: 1st round NCAA/NIT sides and totals

Holy Cross/Southern Illinois Under 109.5 (1 unit)

Southern Illnois:
Pace: 315, 325
Offensive Efficiency: 133, 86
Defensive Efficiency: 24, 14

Holy Cross:
Pace: 305, 294
Offensive Efficiency: 175, 177
Defensive Efficiency: 6, 47

Here we have two teams that are both among the 30 or 40 slowest-paced teams in the nation and two of the top 30 teams in terms of defensive efficiency. This is really a recipe for an under. I have seen So. IIl play, and they guard unlike most teams. They are relentless throughout the duration of the shot clock, and they need to be since they are apt to go on unexpected scoring droughts.

I won't too much stock into stats here, but both teams average about 63-43 points a game and each team gives up 57 points per game. Southern Illinois has already held 8 opponents under 50 points this year, and none of these teams play as slowly as Holy Cross does. there won't be many possessions in this game, and both teams may only get into the low 40s in terms of shots attempted.

Southern Illnois 51
Holy Cross 47
