I am surprised that more places have not adopted this policy. The concern is not with the phone so much as it is with the camera. In blackjack, it would be relatively easy to catch the dealers hole card using a camera phone, even if you were not at the table. From there, you just need to develop some basic signals to let your partner at the table know if the dealer will be taking a hit or not. Actually, he really just needs to know if the hole card is a face.

I rarely defend casinos, but I can understand the cell phone ban.
