I don't get this. If I walk into a room and someone's watching tv, I will first look to see if I recognize the show, if it is a commercial I don't see the problem with asking the person what's on (unless, you're on the other end of the room hunched behind a laptop playing poker or something).
My girlfriend returns like 65% of the things she buys. She sees something she likes, buys it in a snap (in the case of clothing, she does try it on first) then she goes home thinks about it some more and decides if she really wants it or not. It doesn't annoy me per sey, I just think its strange.
