Exxcept you're not drawing to making a straight, you're drawing to winning a poker hand with a straight. Since you're straight isn't to the nuts, and you've only got 3 clean treys not four, you want better odds than that.

i wasn't talking about the odds in that particular situation, i was referring to drawing to a gutshot in general, when there is no possible flush draw on the flop. Furthermore, i stated in my original post that due to the two spades on the board, i'd want higher odds then what was in the pot.
