I graduated 7 years ago and all of my teachers except the old and semi-senile ones would remember me in an instant. I was sort of an ass clown but more of a good student.

I didn't do anything to stand out. Wasn't a class clown, wasn't exceptional. Just your basic mostly B's with a few A's student. I graduated in '96, and every teacher i had from 7th grade on remembers me. Maybe they remember me because I behaved, for the most part.
I think someone is going to remember you if they have that much contact with you. They see you in a small group for an hour or more a day for a school year. If classes were 500+ stadiums like freshman year college, then you would need to stand out somehow.
