Conference update:

Last night was pretty low key, but we did go out for a semi-balla dinner on the boss's docket. I had lamb with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. It was very good. Our table put away a bottle of a very nice Aussie Shiraz/Viognier blend and a bottle of an even better Lodi Zinfandel. Afterwards, I hit up the poster session for a few free beers before hitting the sack.

Today is my day to just relax. My PI left this morning, so there's no one to make me do anything. There aren't really any more relevant talks to attend, either. I started out with a lazy morning of sleeping in, followed by a stroll along the beach to check out all the sexy retirees. You know that some of them down here are risque enough to wear a SHORT-SLEEVED blouse along with their shorts and SOFA. Actual hot-chick-in-bikini count: 2. After that, I finally rounded up my lab mates to go for burritos.

Tonight, I'll probably stroll around and see if there are any cool people left. Most are gone. I'll have dinner w/ my lab again, and I'll hit up the poster session for more free beer. After that, I'll see about the outside chance of a final party, or else just picking of a sixer of something I haven't tried yet to do a beer review and post drunkenly about.

Tuesday will just be lunch followed by returning to the frozen hinterlands.
