So I was playing a live €50 MTT a couple of days ago. I have a card protector with an image of pocket kings on it.
I am a regular in this MTT, and know most of the people who usually play it. Everyone gets their table and seat number, and my table forms. To my right is a guy I've never seen before. He is ugly and has acne all over his face. I start sorting my stack into the different numbers, and put my card protector next to it.
Guy: What is that?
Me: A card guard.
Guy: Yeah, but what is that?
Me: You put it on your cards to make sure nothing happens to them.
Guy: But you can just hold your hand on them or put a chip there.
Me: That is true.
Right after this I complete in the small blind, and put my card protector on my cards. He observantly stares at my cards and the protector, and keeps constantly doing so until I take it off to muck my cards on the flop.
So a couple of orbits later, it folds to him in MP, and he without asking grabs my card protector and puts it on his cards. He proceeds to play his hand. I had no idea how to respond to this. Line suggestions?
