You're probably thinking of malaria. It's similar to religion, except instead of being an organized system of beliefs about the origins of mankind and the universe, it's an acute syndrome caused by a microscopic protozoan of genus Plasmodium. This is funny but I'm not really sure why you bothered posting it. I'm assuming you disagree with my assertion about the danger of religion, that's fine, but I'm pretty sure (as it has a huge head start) that it's way up there.
Now some one pointed out that Political movements have killed more and as I don't have the numbers on all the Crusades, Jihads, and any other ritualistic or spontanious killing done in the name of a God, I can't easily debate that, good point though.
