I like Tool alot. I have to say Undertow ranks as their best album in my eyes with its exceptionally clean alternative sound through out and crowned (in my eyes) by the incredible 'Swamp Song' with its very nice buildup throughout.

Interestingly you compare them to King Crimson, a band I know is held in high regard with many musical fans but which I have to admit has never hit a nerve with me at all. It wouldn't be the first band to strike me at all if I were to make a comparison...but I guess that is music, in what 'view' you put the sound can alter how you hear it.

I guess I'll hear the album more times. I love some of the songs there, but haven't really clicked with the Undertow album.

I'll be honest and say that the King Crimson reference is mostly from what I heard a friend tell me and the wikipedia entry. I love King Crimson, but I don't see the connection between the bands, I am not that good in musical patters. I do know that Maynard talks highly of King Crimson.
