That's it. Pick some fruit/berries/herbs/whatever, put in an airtight jar with vodka. Taste every day or so until it tastes the way you want. Strain, drink.

There are many recipes out there for doing this with cherries and brandy. Some have you cook the cherries a bit, some don't; some pierce the cherries, some don't; most leave the cherries whole, and many pit them.
