Default Proper Sizing of PF Reraise

Table was fairly loose preflop but no specific reads as early in session. Thought raising it from 50 cents to $2 seemed "right" to perhaps get a caller but no more than one. This worked basically as the only caller was the earlier raiser, but this left him with $1 behind, which was less than ideal. Maybe pushing would have made more sense (although this may be results-oriented since he called with K10[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] so he had fd and oesd on the flop?! How do you guys generally determine the "correct" amount to rr pf? Thank you...
