Reminds me of an old stand-up sketch by Laura Kightlinger. She discussed hwo depressing it was that all of her friends had kids except for her. That everytime she calls them, "Joey" has to say "hi" to her, which takes 3 minutes.
I think she said when they called she was going to start bringing her dog to the phone saying "Say hi, Buster, come on! Say hi! Say hi buster! Come on!"
