Default Re: Cage mistake at CAZ

It varies by casino, but in some Vegas poker rooms the cashier is responsible for fixing any shortages in their bank at the end of a shift. I specifically asked one cashier who was fuming a bit because she was $10 off and she claimed they got $20/week grace, and anything beyond that they have to pay outta their own pocket. And they still get written up and dinged for significant discrepancies. I asked at another Vegas casino and the response was "hell no they don't have to make good on discrepancies--who would take that job for $10/hr if they had to pay off shortages?"

So don't assume if you keep cage mistakes in your favor that you're taking from the casino. You may be taking that outta the pocket of the sweet young thang that counted it out wrong. And even if you aren't swiping from 'em, you may cause them serious grief and perhaps their job.

Unless someone has done me significant wrong (and I can think of no employee in any casino I feel that way about, certainly no cashier), I'm not going to keep an extra $100 when I know the consequences to them are large and the benefit to me is small.
