You should often bet a flop that you were thinking of check-raising. Don't get into the habit of doing everything the same way every time. The times that you do check-raise I think you must follow through with a bet on the turn unless your knowledge of your opponent tells you not to.
btw: CA's 20 game is going to be a LOT looser than Bellagio's 15 (generally speaking).
