Default Re: Lebron James - Best Player in NFL

If you look at any sport, there are people that are great partly because they're more athletic/better body type than other people - think KG/Shaq/DWade in basketball, or Randy Moss/Richard Seymour/Orlando Pace in football, and then there are people that succeed partly because they've mastered sport-specific roles- most 3 point specialists, for instance, or someone like Tom Nalen, who's not that big but has great technique. Steve is in the former category, and Joe Montana is in the latter. Occasionally you get players that clearly aren't that athletic that are still world-class- think Larry Bird.

Anyway, my point is that Lebron and DWade and all those people would probably be able to succeed in the NFL given some time, but not immediately. The Pats took a player, Steven Neal, who hadn't played football since HS but was a champion collegiate wrestler, and turned him into a starting guard in a few years. I think people could find something to do with Lebron. And all those people saying he'd get killed in the NFL- he's 6'8 240. He'd be able to protect himself as well as any other receiver that got hit.

In summation, the level of athleticism in the NFL is such that there are few people that can dominate based on being bigger/stronger/faster than everyone else on the field. However, Lebron seems to be one of those types that is bigger/stronger/faster than anyone on the basketball court, and I wouldn't doubt that he could be a high-quality WR w/in three years, presuming he catches the ball well.
