Default Re: Official 2006-2007 College Hockey Thread

Conference season isn't even half-way over yet.

Miami has played 13 conf games and has 17 to go.

In late Jan miami begins a very tough 7-game stretch:

1/19 vs. OSU
1/20 @ OSU
1/21 vs. OSU
1/26 @ ND
1/27 @ ND
2/2 @ Alaska
2/3 @ Alaska

and then 2/9 and 2/10 hosting Lake State who appear to be pretty decent too.

I don't get to see any games anymore and don't know specifics of Michigan's situation. But Berenson does know what he's doing and goalies do actually have bad games and bounce back from them.

Sometimes a relatively unknown 2nd or even 3rd string goalie can explode on the scene too.
Seems to happen all the time that some guy who played only 1 or 2 games in the first couple months puts together an awesome streak in the 2nd half of the season when they get their shot.

Also don't be surprised if Michigan is significantly more inspired tonight at ND after getting embarassed at home.

Anyway, the standings are:
MIA 10-3-0, 20 pts
ND 8-2-1, 17 pts
UM 8-4-0, 16 pts
AK 5-3-3, 13 pts
MSU 6-5-1, 13 pts
LSSU 5-4-2, 12 pts

Note that one of the reasons Miami is ahead in the standings is because they have played more conference games than anyone.
Even 4th place AK can be right there almost at the top if they were to win the 2 games-in-hand they have on Miami.

Way way way too early and way way way too close to be saying this conf is going to come down to MIA vs ND.
