Default Re: When to rebuy in short-stack NL games?

I am unaware of any rules where I play that require you announce when you add to your stack. Long as you keep under the cap, you're fine, particularly if you're adding "normal" denomination chips to what you've got. Folks can tell at a glance what you have.

But I agree with pig... it'd be courteous to not sneak in five more $100 bills to your existing stack of 2 bills immediately after someone has asked you "how many bills do you have?" If I add to a stack like that, I put the new bills separate for a hand or two so they are obvious, then merge them. But I still don't tell the entire table "HEY EVERYBODY! LOOKY! I'm adding 4 bills here!" Same probably applies to adding a black chip or two to your stack of 7 $5 chips... it'd be easy for someone to miss those. But again, I'm unaware of any rule against it.
