I've never had thai food, but I love chinese food and I'm ok with japanese food. How similar are they? Thai food is very spicy, right? Keep in mind I mean American "chinese" food.

You said there isn't really American food in Thailand, but what about chinese/japanese food in Thailand? If so, is it similar to what's here, or more like real ethnic chinese food? If that makes sense.

I'm also guessing that you eat a lot of seafood?

the seafood is amazing, far better than in america.

its kinda hard to describe thai food if you haven't had it. some stuff is gonna seem very weird to you...like a whole fish cooked and set on a plate. you got the head and the eyeballs and all the skin etc. you just cut it open and eat it.

i love it, go to a thai restaurant to try it out. The Lotus of Siam in Las Vegas is a pretty amazing Thai restaurant and is as close to authentic as I've seen in the states

Wow, cool thread. Regarding the seafood, there is one Baller ass seafod resturant in Bangkok. Its where a lot of foreigners and rich Thai's go. Just ask the taxi driver to take you to the best seafood place.

Anyway, so once you get into the resturant, you get a shopping cart, and you walk down a long ass isle of seafood. They have every type of seafood that you can think of. You pick out what you want and then pay for the seafood first. Then you take your seat and the waiter will come and ask you how you want all your stuff prepared. You can have it cooked thai style or however you want. Me and my buddies ended up getting the biggest lobster tails that we ever had; we had those grilled with butter. We had tom yam soup with jumbo schrimp and a couple other seafood stir fry dishes. Definately a don't miss if your a seafood lover.
