I remember partaking in a mass prayer over 8-10 yrs ago. There were out of control fires in Texas that had gone on for weeks. An experiment was conducted by Art Bell (radio host) when one of his listeners suggested that he enlist all the listeners to "pray" for rain. He instructed the listeners to close their eyes, relax and visualize rain clouds forming over Texas. I laughed at first until I heard listeners in Texas reporting rain even though the weather forecast didn't call for any precipitation for WEEKS to come. I was astonished.
Don't discount the power of the mind. Chinese doctors use chi gong (directed flow of energy w/in the body) to cure many ailments. They are able to tap into this energy through "prayer" (meditation w/ a focus on a desired outcome). I believe that is what happened in the case of Doyle and the remission of his cancer to the point where it completely went away.
FWIW, I'll have mouse in hand.
