pacifica is definitely a nice option. have some friends who live out there and do a fair amount of my surfing out there. if the view is what you're going for, its beautiful when its not foggy. but thats standard sf for ya. if its the city feel that you miss, you definitely wont get that in pacifica... but its much closer to the city feel than pleasant hill is. at least pleasant hill is a rich area so your house should go for a decent amount one way or another.
