JJ might call on the river after calling the turn minraise, but there are very few hands that will call here that we beat. I'd be happy to just finish the hand here and not have to deal with a check-raise on the river.
The problem with this hand is that OP didn't build a big enough pot preflop/on the flop/on the turn, not the question of whether he should check behind or value bet.
