You've risked too much in a situation where you're usually only going to get called when you're beat. You make excellent points; however, here is how I rationalize the check raise in this situation:
1) I'm winning here 80% of the time.
2) People do call with their draws, but with the checkraise, they are calling way way uphill
3) If you just bet out, then you'll have multiple callers, some of which will be offered correct pot odds.
4) If I play TTP and good draws the same way, then I feel that when I actually do have top set, then I'm more likely to get action.
