Here's why I like raising the flop:

1) You get information right away on whether your set is good, thus avoiding calling off your money to the nut full later on.

2) You make a draw pay to get there.

3) You get more money in the pot when you have the best hand, thus winning more on later streets.

I don't like it cause you make it easy on big draws when you raiise, not more difficult (who might even be a slight favorite against you on the flop) cause they can 3-bet jam if we raise and now they got us to fold (presumably we're folding) middle set.
