Default Variance at limit holdem

I have seen a number of posts recently bemoaning losing a reasonably small number of BB as having the worst luck in the world. I have also recently encountered a number of supposed +ev players in the casinos recently that really are playing underfunded and expecting unreasonable things.

I now have well over 500 live hours the past 2 years. My main games are $8-16, $9-18, and $10-20 LHE but there is some other game play mixed into my results. Overall, my winrate is $20.77 an hour.....roughly a BB per hour. Poker charts lists it as higher than that and I attribute that to ~40 hours at $4-8.

Anywho, this includes a few vicious downswings. One is almost $3000(150+BB's). There are two other downswings in excess of $1500, including my current play.

Bottom line is poker is a variance filled game. Especially limit. It is not due to my style of play particularly, its just what happens. There is luck involved in the short term. As you can see by my results, I am a long term winner(I have previous results with more hours at lower limits). Nevertheless, you will hit downturns in your results. Get used to it.
