Well, if this is the case, I abhor what we have done to our values in pursuit of this "elemental struggle". Pointing specifically to the Patriot Acts, Guantanomo, misconduct in Iraq, Lebanon, etc.

A elemental struggle for values --> perhaps a discussion with Gandhi or Mandelo who successfully lead elemental struggles; a struggle based on our full faith in bedrock principles (rather than principles that are sacrificed easily even if for "good" reasons), would lead to a world of true freedom.

What Blair is talking about is Imperialism and Hubris at its very worst.

But, I must admit he makes it sound all so nice and aboveboard.
