1) Its a strat to take away the edge from playing with better players. You can't "outplay" an all-in. You either have it and call or don't and fold. It helps to level the playing field. I read in some random book (2+2 maybe?) that it was for a WSOP event where a big time casino guy wanted his daughter to play and he needed a real basic way to teak her.
2) No it's just overwhelmingly men. These listed people also respresent a disproportinate amount of wins between them.
3) How so? Do you really think that Sammy Farha does not skew the % of wins in every PLO tourney with his massive edge? Over a very long event such as the main event talent starts to win out. Women who are weak NLHE players will start to drop out. Some of the best women players don't have NLHE as their best game which further weakens this bet as they comprise some of the largest equity for women.
