Default Re: God Is Mad At America

[ QUOTE ]
"God punishes those he loves in this life so they can have less punishment or greater glory in the next life."

It's a zero-sum game?

[ QUOTE ]
Well, the punishment or joy received in the next life is disproportional to the amount received here, so it is not exactly a zero sum game. Like Pascal said, suffer a little to get a lot, or have a little joy and suffer a lot.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes the proportions are such that the pain and pleasure we recieve in this life are infinitesimally small compared to the infinite pain or pleasure in the afterlife.

His point is that God doesn't need to cause hurricanes to get people into heaven. You seem to claim he does. Please explain why this is.

I am pretty sure Andy was not asking for a catechism lesson, rather he was asking a pointed question.
Since the notion of causing a hurricane so people can get into heaven is obviously stupid for a supreme being, the answer you will hear from theists is: "aw shucks, we mere humans don't understand God. (By the way God hates America. (and gays))"
