The problem with the anti-war movement is that they arent willing to give up on the main cause of wars and violence. You cant change government, you can only increase it or decrease it. I'm just trying to figure out how much of a neccecity people think the welfare state is.

Then ask how much of a necessity the welfare state is. By tying it to something so tenuously related as "They are both government programs" can only distort, not clarify the answers. Thats a technique pollsters try to use to get the results they have been hired to report.
