Jim Rome was talking about this about 3 months ago.

There was a big argument on his show about whether or not his family should have been notified about the friendly fire. Many soldiers called in and said that his family didn't need to know. Rome seemed to think that his family had aright to know, and that, him dying by his own side did not and should not, make him less heroic in his family's eyes.
