300 BB is based on the likely hood of going bust. An average player should have a very very small chance of going bust with that bankroll. However, that assumes that going broke is the end of the world. If it isn't; if you can re-load from disposable income instead of getting drunk for a weekend or two, then BR is entirely up to the individual. What is your comfort level? If you multi-table how much of your BR do you want in play at once? I'm 4 tabling 1/2 so 100BB are in play at once and I'm fine with that and a 300BB BR. Your numbers may be different.
