Realize that this sort of play has nothing to do with "tightness." In fact, many break-even/slightly winning low limit players achieve that level by playing both too tight AND too aggressive--they push their few "good" hands way to far, trying to muscle you out of pots in hopeless situations.
In fact, I used to do this a lot as a beginning player. All I had gleaned from the couple of books I had read was to be tight and aggressive, which at the time I thought meant betting AK three times unimproved into five players playing $1-$3.
