I don't think you'll find a decent sized LCD that maxes out at 800x600. Even the 15" monitors do 1024x768.

Not all LCDs act the same btw. I'm running a widescreen 19" LCD (16:9 ratio @ 1440x900) and when I downscale it to 800x600 the text is still sharp enough for it to be 100% acceptable. Granted it's not perfect, but it's by no means horrid.

If this is your first venture to LCDs, I'd spend a good long time reading reviews and comparing different models. The difference between certain models cannot be described in words.

A lot of the major outlets overprice really trashy LCDs.

Expect to pay about $220-250 for a nice 19" (1280x1024) lcd, and closer to $400-500 for a good 20.1" (1600x1200) if you ordered one online.
