That's not what I heard. Unless I missed something there, Doyle said that he knew him, and he didn't expect Shieky to do anything but be Shieky.

Doyle is always a gentleman and doesn't come right out and slam people. Unlike Todd, Doyle's put-downs are subtle. I thought that he made it clear that he thought Shieky is an immature jerk, and that he, Doyle, wasn't going to lower himself to that level.

Running your mouth and slamming the cards on the table is OK for a drunken home game where everyone is doing it and the game is more about good times than money. Grown-ups behave themselves in public.

I concur.

Doyle is past his physical prime to shut Sheiky up in that way, and the cards didn't fall for him to do it the other way.

Doyle > Sheiky in all aspects of human life.
