Your post makes me think that you are thinking in terms of pure bet size, and not in relation to the size of the pot.
A $3 bet at a 25NL or 10Nl table is a big bet, but not into a $5 pot...it's only 3/5 of the whole pot or 60%....not big at all.
There's a flush draw on the board..i'd bet at least $3 or $4 on the turn too. If he raises me I consider folding because my kicker is pretty awful....if he just calls my turn bet, I check behind on the river for the free showdown.
