Re: legality of this type of home game? No rake, but a monthly fee?

MatthewD,

I am not an expert on the law or anything remotely close. That being said, I am under the impression that an establishments sole purpose (or main purpose) for gambling would fall under...

Re: Home Game Safety

I found that site, and played in a game a couple of times (in Virginia). I thought there were a few shady characters the second time I went, so didn't go again. At no point did I feel endangered...

Re: Heads Up Home Game Tournament

If you want it to be over within 5 hours, each match would have to be over in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Obviously, some matches will be over quickly. Most won't. Here's enough levels for 2+...

Re: Hand for Hand play?

Hand-for-hand play can be used when you are about to break up a table (when you're in the money) as well.

Yes, if the top 12 get paid, and you're down to 13, tables should play hand-for-hand...

Re: Cash Game Blinds and Buy-Ins

40BB is very short.

We play $.25-$.50 blinds with $50-$100 buy-ins (which is 100-200BB).

Re: t200 rebuy donkament structure : please review

You like big jumps?

I'd get rid of the 5/10 level and add 6/12 and 8/16. Also, add 20/40, 30/60, 40/80, and 125/250

Re: 86ing a player

Since it's in a bar and it's an illegal game, I don't know if you can get rid of this guy without risking the entire game. What did this guy do that's so reprehensible?

Re: Please Review my T10,000 blind structure

It's pretty good. I'd change the 500-1000 to 600-1200. Other than that, I'd play.

Re: Proper chips/blinds for a 3 hour tournament

I'd suggest something a bit less aggressive. You can raise the blinds every 15 minutes.

100-200
200-400
400-800
600-1200

800-1600
1000-2000
1500-3000

Re: Player has to leave home tourney: His $$$?

Since he didn't bring up the issue of his buy-in, he clearly isn't worried about that. So I'd say no on the refund issue.

As for his chips, just pull his chips off the table. Dividing his chips...

Re: Request for a ruling

Conceding victory and pushing your cards in is a muck.

Re: Request for a ruling

"You got me" with pushing cards forward sounds like a concession. This action declares "I concede, you win."

Why not check raise on the flop? That way, maybe you can fold when he reraises all-in.

Re: Points Tourneys?

Check out what I just posted for "sdc"'s 2008 WSOP pool. You can adapt that for however many weeks its run, buy-in, end-of-season payout, end-of-season chip stacks, etc.

As stated above, you're out of the tourney, and you're opponents are idiots. If I were the Tournament Director, I'd do the following:

First offense: slap on the wrist.
Second offense: KITN...

For OP, who's to say you can't have both?

For those who are arguing, who says you need to choose poker over sex or sex over poker? Sometimes you feel like the nuts, sometimes you don't?

Re: Want to start pool for next year WSOP (very long, need opinions)

My group did something similar that can be applied for what you're looking for. To properly adapt it, I'd need some information.

1. How many guys play in your Tuesday tournaments?
2. How many...

Re: Please Review Home Game Structure and Advise

Personally, I don't like your structure. There's too many small jumps with too many big jumps. You go from 10-20 to 20-40, then 25-50, 50-100, etc.

As some have quoted, if you've run a...

Re: How to handle poor poker etiquette?

Personally, I can't stand when people talk about the hand while it's going on. Too much information is leaked.

Anyway, if you're the host, you have some of options.

1. Draft some rules that...
