The characters weren't painted in any depth, but to be fair there were so many of them that it would have been a 9 hour movie if they were. And it probably would have changed the pacing...

Just saw this again on the telly, was curious what people's thoughts on it are. Its the first Ridley Scott film I saw, only other one I've seen is Gladiator, which I wasn't hugely...
